INDONESIAN television station Trans TV, which has shown interest in telecasting live Siti Nurhaliza’s wedding, plans to give the singer a special “wedding present” in the form of a television show.
Its chief operating officer, Wishnuthama, said a reality TV show in search of Indonesia’s next top models, would also have the Malaysian pop star lend her name to a search for beauties around the archipelago. It is expected to debut in November.
Wishnuthama said: “Siti Nurhaliza is a much-loved pop star, not only in Malaysia but also in Indonesia. Many of her fans here welcome her marriage announcement and want to see more of her.
“Thus, we have decided to produce shows dedicated to her, in which she gets to help her fans achieve their dreams.”
On the live telecast deal, he said it was still being discussed.
Apart from this, the station plans to air several entertainment tributes to Siti Nurhaliza before and after her wedding.
It also plans to have Siti Nurhaliza sing at the semi-finals of its reality talent show, Bintang Cari Bintang, a programme inspired by TV3’s Mentor.
Siti Nurhaliza is one of the mentors on the show. Her protege is Khatijah (Cat) Hassan, the sister-in-law of rock singer Amy Search, who is also a mentor.
“We would love to have Siti Nurhaliza and Cat sing together. Both of them are popular with fans here,” he said at a cheque presentation ceremony for funds collected under the TV3 and Utusan Malaysia Yogyakarta Earthquake Fund.
It raised RM638,000 for the victims, with the money being handed by TV3 chief executive Datuk Farid Ridzuan to Jurnal Nasional Indonesia representative Rully Charis.
Meanwhile, Trans TV is also producing its very own version of MyTeam.
Wishnuthama and Maya Team Sdn Bhd chairman Khairy Jamaluddin signed a memorandum of understanding for the production of MyTeam Indonesia at the station yesterday. MyTeam Indonesia will make its debut after Hari Raya.
Khairy said he was optimistic the MyTeam concept could be expanded to other Asean countries, adding there were plans to export it to central America, Africa and the Middle East.
